Assets of mandatory private pension funds up 21.7 pct y/y in October

Mandatory private pension funds (Pillar II) had assets totalling RON 47.08 billion at the end of October 2018, a 21.7 percent growth compared to the same month of last year, according to data provided by the Financial Supervision Authority (ASF).

State bonds have the largest share of the assets – RON 29.4 billion (62.5 percent). Shares come in second, with RON 8.9 billion (18.9 percent). Bank deposits are third by share of the assets with RON 3.9 billion (8.31 percent).

Pillar II funds had 7.19 million participants in October. According to ASF data, contributions have been wired in for 7.05 million participants since the beginning of collection in the system. In August 2018, contributions were wired in for 4.05 million participants.

The following pension funds are active within Pillar II: Metropolitan Life Pensii, AZT Viitorul Tau, BCR, BRD, NN and Vital.
