Situated in the mountains of central Romania, Kempinski Hotels reveals the latest addition to its European constellation: a contemporary ski resort that will transform the town of Poiana Brasov into a must-visit destination for trail-blazing travellers. With 120 guest rooms, Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort will be the first five-star hotel in the Transylvania region and the debut Kempinski address in Romania.

The EUR 70 million project marks Bucharest-based developer Rock Holding’s first foray into the luxury hospitality space after successfully developing a collection of high-end residential projects in the Romanian capital.

“The mountains of Eastern Europe are some of the most spectacular in the world and we are thrilled to have found a new home in the enchanting village of Poiana Brasov. Together with Rock Holding, we hope to bring elevated levels of luxury to the region’s hospitality scene and provide a truly five-star experience for well- heeled travellers heading to Romania,” says Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Group and Chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski AG.

A collection of 120 lakeside rooms and suites in the main hotel will be augmented by extensive spa and wellness facilities that will tap into the healing powers of the mountain landscape, while three dining outlets will showcase the flavours of the Romanian and

international cuisine. A conference centre and events space with stunning mountain views provide a blank canvas for spectacular corporate events and summer weddings.

Behind a sleek, contemporary façade, the hotel promises a minimal, naturalistic aesthetic, with natural building materials, flowing organic lines and interiors that reflect the landscape of the Carpathian Mountains.

“Poiana Brasov is without doubt one of the most attractive parts of Romania and holds great development potential. Our vision for Kempinski Poiana Brasov is to create a luxurious mountain hideaway where visitors can choose to do as much or as little as they like, with a host of in-house facilities and an abundance of outdoor activities at the doorstep. The Kempinski Hotel will provide a luxury accommodation for anyone looking for a slice of paradise in the Carpathian Mountains,” says Mircea Cotiga, CEO and Founder, Rock Holding.

Poiana Brasov is a gateway to some of the most spell-binding landscape in Central Europe and a magnet for outdoor afficionados. During the long summer days, well-marked trails between lush spruce forests and mountain meadows blanketed in wildflowers draw hikers, cyclists and horse riders, while the snowy peaks lure skiers and snowboarders from across Europe each winter.

“Our growing collection of European mountain resorts reflects the increasing demand from guests for holidays that immerse them in the natural world and provide a blank canvas for active adventures. From snow-packed winter ski holidays to adventurous summer escapes, Poiana Brasov provides a year-round destination for outdoor pursuits,” adds Bernold Schroeder.

Guests staying at Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort will have direct access to almost 24 kilometres of ski slopes on the flanks of the Postăvarul Massif, one of the most picturesque areas of wilderness in Central Europe. The nearby medieval city of Brasov is home to gothic churches, cobbled streets and baroque townhouses that evoke the essence of Transylvania. In less than 45 minutes, guests can reach some of the other must-see sights of Romania, including Bran Castle, home of Count Dracula, the fairy-tale spires of Peles Castle and the mighty walls of Rasnov Fortress.

Direct flights from cities including Dubai, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Munich, Stuttgart, Tel Aviv and Geneva serve the new Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport, a 30-minute drive from the hotel, while the larger Bucharest International Airport can be reached in 2.5 hours.
