The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will present two exceptional jazz evenings at the Romanian Athenaeum, featuring a surprise program that will be announced on stage on the evening of each concert.

Bucharest should prepare for a truly legendary experience as the iconic American trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis, graces the stage once again alongside the renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. With an impressive collection of 12 Grammy Awards under his belt, Marsalis holds the distinction of being the first artist to triumph in both the jazz and classical categories in the same year for two consecutive years, an extraordinary feat achieved in 1983 and 1984. Moreover, his oratorio “Blood on the Fields” secured its place in history as the first jazz composition to ever win the esteemed Pulitzer Prize for Music. Together with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, of which Marsalis is the artistic director, they will be the special guests at the highly anticipated Athenaeum Summer Festival 2023.

Collaborating with symphony orchestras, ballet companies, and aspiring students, they also conduct educational events that span across New York, the United States, and the globe.
