SoNoRo Musikland starts a new classical music celebration journey in Transylvania

The SoNoRo Musikland festival, which celebrates cultural heritage through classical music, will take place in Braşov, Sighişoara, Râşnov, Hălchiu, Criţ, Meşendorf, Viscri, Prod and Saschiz, from July 14-23.

 

 

Now in its fifth edition, the festival features 12 concerts, including three jam sessions. 70 musicians from eight countries will delight the audience every evening, performing masterpieces by Franz Schubert, Gioachino Rossini, Niccolò Paganini, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Antonín Dvořák, Frédéric Chopin, and other composers.

The festival will open on Friday with a concert by the Braşov Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Cristian Oroşanu in Piaţa Sfântul Ioan. Admission is by ticket, which can be purchased only on the night of the concert, at the entrance. For the rest of the festival concerts, admission is free and is by invitation or reservation.

SoNoRo Musikland will reach five new venues this year compared to previous editions: Casa Mureşenilor and Centrul Cultural Apollonia in Braşov, Das Fort Boutique in Râşnov, Critz Cross in Criţ and the fortified church in Saschiz.

Among the musicians who will perform at the SoNoRo Musikland festival this year are violinists Johannes Fleischmann, Philippe Graffin, Irina Mureşanu and Nicolas Dautricourt; violists Răzvan Popovici and William Coleman; cellists Adolfo Gutiérrez Arenas and Andrei Ioniţă; pianists Cristian Budu, Andrei Gologan and Roxana Circiu and clarinetist Andrei Văleanu. A notable presence is that of the Braşov Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Cristian Oroşanu, who will open the festival.
