HiSky introduces the first direct route from Bucharest to Bordeaux

Starting this December, Romanian passengers will be able to travel directly to wine capital of the world, Bordeaux. This is the only non-stop air connection between Bucharest and Bordeaux and the first flight to France that HiSky introduces, departing from Romania’s capital city.

The inaugural flight will be operated on December 21st, but tickets have already been included in the company’s booking system, with fares starting at 69 euros per segment. The flights will be operated twice a week, every Monday and Thursday, departing from Bucharest and returning on the same day.

The new route is part of the company’s announced schedule for the winter season and, given the launch around the holidays, flights will also be operated on December 25th and January 1st.

The city in the south-west of France thus becomes the seventh international destination regularly operated by HiSky from its operational base in Bucharest.

“We wanted HiSky to enter the market as an alternative for Romanian passengers, both in terms of fares and schedules, as well as the duration and comfort of the trip. We are presenting, this season, a destination that was not previously operated with a direct flight from Bucharest and we offer those who want to get to west coast of France the opportunity to arrive there in just over 3 hours, non-stop. We have already been operating flights to Paris from Baia Mare and Chisinau for over 2 years, but when it comes to Bucharest we wanted to create a connection with another area of France, less explored by other companies. Considering the date announced for the opening of the route, I think this destination comes as a very good option for travelers during the winter holidays, whether we are talking about Romanians returning home for the holidays, or those who want to spend it abroad,” said Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

According to the data reported by the company that manages the largest airport in the Capital, HiSky was, in the first half of this year, in fourth place in the list of air operators, according to the number of passengers transported. Henri Coandă Airport is also the largest of the company’s three operational bases. From a total of 537 thousand passengers reported until the end of June, 252 thousand traveled with HiSky to or from Bucharest. From Bucharest airport, passengers can travel with HiSky on seven scheduled international routes, to Tel Aviv, Brussels, Barcelona, Malaga, Dublin, Chisinau and Bordeaux, and on two domestic routes, to Cluj Napoca and Timișoara. In Romania, the airline also operates regular flights from the airports of Iasi, Baia Mare, Cluj Napoca and Timișoara, as well as charter flights, being the main supplier in the country for this type of travel. After a summer that helped set a number of records in terms of traffic figures, the airline is soon to reach the 2 million passenger mark.
