Villa Vinèa invests 2 Million Euros to expand and modernize winery in Mureș County

The wine producer Villa Vinèa announces the expansion of its winery in Mica, Mureș County, by increasing the area by approximately 600 square meters, spread over three levels. Thus, the total area of production, storage, and wine tasting spaces reaches 2,100 square meters. The construction process was also complemented by a modernization effort, acquiring state-of-the-art production equipment.

The work to modify and modernize the winery, founded in 2011 by Tyrolean entrepreneur Heiner Oberrauch, took 13 months and involved an investment of 2 million euros, half of which came from the company’s own funds and half from subsidies granted by the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA).

“The expansion of the winery was our most important project in recent years. Thanks to the new storage spaces, we have more areas where we can age the wines, which allows us to increase the quality level. Practically, our production will not exceed 200,000 bottles of wine per year. What differs is the fact that now we can age them longer, both in barrels and bottles, until they are ready for the market. Thus, we ensure that when they reach the shelf or the HoReCa industry, our products benefit from full, well-integrated, elegant flavors,” said Misi Dénes, Villa Vinèa Winery Director.

Moreover, to maintain the highest quality standard, Villa Vinèa regularly regulates production. In 2023, the winery had a harvest of approximately 230 tons of grapes, 30% less than the average of the last five years. This ensures that each process and each wine benefits from a high level of attention.

The new building is partially underground to maintain a constant temperature between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius with minimal electricity consumption. More than 50% of the electricity used by the winery is produced using photovoltaic panels.

Villa Vinèa concluded 2023 with a turnover of 4.4 million lei

Villa Vinèa closed 2023 with a turnover of 4.4 million lei, an increase of 18% compared to 2022.

“2023 was a good year for us in terms of wine sales, especially in the premium and super-premium product selections, which saw a 30% increase. We recorded declines in winery tourism, which was affected by the remodeling and construction work. Considering we now benefit from new tasting spaces, both indoors and outdoors on the terrace, we expect to attract over 2,000 visitors in the next 9 months,” added Mircea Matei, General Manager of Villa Vinèa.

For 2024, the producer’s representatives predict a 20% increase in revenue, driven by increased sales of Premium and Selection ranges, as well as an increase in the number of tourists and events held at the winery.
