The World Culinary Awards, a global initiative recognizing and rewarding excellence in the culinary industry, announced the winners of the 2023 competition, offering the title for the third consecutive time to The Artist Restaurant, led by Chef Paul Oppenkamp, which has received the distinction of Best Restaurant.
Founded 11 years ago by Paul and Mihaela Oppenkamp as a fine dining restaurant, The Artist’s initial goal was to establish an authentic fine dining culture in Romania. With a consistent presence in specialized rankings both in the country and abroad, highlighting Romanian ingredients in internationally valued dishes, The Artist has gradually built an audience that appreciates its understated elegance and gastronomic consistency.
“For 12 years, we’ve been building a space in Romania where people can savor a gourmet experience of international caliber with strong local roots. We came to this country and stayed, fascinated by its potential and culinary traditions, with the desire to share our discoveries and invite our guests to explore unique and alluring flavor combinations that place Romania firmly on the international gastronomy map. The award we received this week at the World Culinary Awards shows that we are on the right path and encourages us to continue our culinary adventure,” says Paul Oppenkamp.
Located in an elegant villa in the center of Bucharest, The Artist welcomes guests with new menus that change with each season, featuring dishes that contain fresh local ingredients as well as international spices and flavors. In its 11 years of existence, the restaurant has received numerous recognitions and awards from international hospitality and gastronomy organizations.
