Diplomat, the iconic restaurant of the Capital, concluded the year 2023 with business exceeding 14 million lei, over 50% more than in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth is attributed to heightened visibility and the expansion of the terrace, resulting in increased seating capacity. The financial results cover both à la carte sales and those of the corporate and private events division, which are well represented in the business portfolio.

“In 2023, we had an active year, constantly organizing our own events such as brunches and tasting evenings, as well as meetings and launches for our corporate clients. We are delighted to have strengthened our position as a trusted host for the B2B segment and to have been chosen for private events by our loyal guests. In 2024, our focus is on expanding our clientele in the à la carte segment, both for lunch and dinner. Currently, we have a strong community of guests, including business people and entrepreneurs, both Romanian and expatriates, who regularly visit us for business meetings or special moments with their families. Over the next 9-12 months, we aim to attract more attention from Romanian guests, so that an increasingly wider audience can enjoy the experience we offer. The Diplomat is an iconic restaurant that has contributed to the history of Bucharest and has witnessed important decisions at the highest levels. Beyond the business figures, we hope that more residents of the Capital will discover our story and engage with this space,” stated Mihai Troneci, operator of the restaurant.

During the first three months of 2024, the Diplomat Restaurant saw an increase of approximately 12% in revenue compared to the same period in 2023, January to March.

“We estimate that we will conclude the year with sales of approximately 15.5 – 16 million lei, thus surpassing the inflation rate. Regarding investments, we anticipate allocating around 1 million lei for the refurbishment of the restaurant, scheduled for the summer when guests prefer to spend their time on our spacious terrace,” concluded Mihai Troneci.

Starting May, the Diplomat Restaurant welcomes its guests with a fresh new menu.

Starting in May, the Diplomat Restaurant welcomes its guests with a new menu crafted by Chef Paul Mihăilescu, who leads the kitchen of the establishment. The new selection of dishes will feature refined delicacies such as crab tartare with avocado, bananas, and salmon caviar, creamy langoustine risotto with pickled lemon, textures of carp with polenta, porcini mushrooms, and garlic cream, or veal tenderloin served with turnips, potato tart, and asparagus.

Moreover, the new menu will also include a fine selection of homemade desserts, such as chocolate truffles with wild hazelnuts, liqueur, and fresh basil.

“The Diplomat menu is elegant, with international influences, curating quality ingredients from around the world. The dishes we propose to our guests are inspired by classic recipes specific to certain cultures, such as the classic fish with polenta and garlic or Italian risotto. What we do is give them a new identity and bring them into the present through cooking techniques and unexpected combinations of textures and flavors,” stated Chef Paul Mihăilescu.

The Diplomat Restaurant is open to the general public every day, from Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 12:00 AM.
