Meda celebrates its 25th anniversary and prepares an important investment plan

Meda, one of the most important meat product manufacturers in the country, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Since its establishment, Meda has consistently grown, consolidating its position in the Romanian meat products market. The company has evolved and adapted to the constantly changing needs of consumers, offering high-quality products under the well-known slogan “Everything tastier from meat!”

 

The past three years have been marked by many challenges – the Covid health crisis, the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, and inflation – but the company has managed to consolidate its market position while maintaining a high quality of products.

“We are proud of our achievements and express our gratitude to the entire team, our customers, and partners for their support throughout the 25 years of activity. This period has involved constant efforts and significant investments, but at the same time, it has brought us important satisfactions. Although the preferences of Romanian consumers have evolved, Meda has remained relevant and up-to-date, constantly adapting to market changes. This motivates us to continue investing in growth and innovation, approaching with confidence any challenges and obstacles that may arise in order to remain the first choice for our customers and partners,” declares Luchi Georgescu, the founder of Meda.

Meda Prod 98 Company, the owner of the Meda brand, is the market leader in terms of value in the modern trade segment for sausages. Chicken breast sausages are the flagship product of the company. Meda estimates that it has sold approximately 80,000 tons of sausages in the past 25 years. Thanks to recent investments, new products have been developed in the dry-cured salami segment, and there has also been an expansion of production capacity in the boiled and smoked meat products segment – salami, bologna, sausages, hams, and various specialties.

“There are three main targets in our medium and long-term strategy: maintaining the superior quality of Meda products, developing the offer to consumers, and consolidating the brand image. In order to achieve them, we have planned investments of over 30 million lei in the next 3 years, specifically in technology, increasingly efficient equipment, automation, and long-term sustainable solutions,” declares Florin Rizea, the company’s general director.

Meda currently has around 700 employees and plans to expand its production and storage capacity, as well as increase distribution nationwide. Founded in 1998, the company has experienced consistent growth over the past 25 years and has become a trusted name in the meat products industry in Romania.
