Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Yleem D.S. Poblete, will visit Bucharest this week. According to a press release posted on the Washington State Department website, the official will travel to The Hague, Vienna, and Bucharest between June 26 and June 30.
In Romania, the Assistant Secretary of State will hold meetings with the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense, and will make a field trip as part of the Open Skies Treaty.
In The Hague, Yleem D.S. Poblete will accompany John Sullivan, the deputy secretary of state, who will present the US position at the Special Session of the Conference of States Parties of the Chemical Weapons Organization.
In Vienna, Yleem Poblete will meet with officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBTO) Preparatory Commission, and will discuss monitoring, detection and verification efforts in the especially with reference to North Korea, Syria and Iran.
