The Romanian company Color Smart Distribution, the only importer and distributor in Romania and the Republic of Moldova of the premium brands Novacolor and Pittsburgh Paints, has budgeted in 2022 an investment of over 500,000 euro, for expansion.

In addition, the company allocates 3-5% of its annual revenues for sales support materials, and a significant part of the budget goes to Novacolor Academy, which organizes courses for applicators of different decorative materials.

“Color Smart is booming. For 2022, we intend to open a flagship showroom in Timișoara and later relocate our store to Constanța. We will expand our distribution system with dedicated showrooms in cities where we are not yet present with the ranges of premium and premium plus materials. We will also expand sales to construction materials warehouses with a range of products dedicated to this distribution channel”, said Cătălina Trupșor, founder and CEO of Color Smart Distribution.

The expansion comes as a natural step in the evolution of the company, but also as a result of the growing demand in the market. The paint industry has experienced organic growth of 5-7% annually, especially lately when the relationship of people with the space in which they live has changed. During the pandemic, the Romanians’ preoccupation with the spaces in which they live or work was more acute than before. Thus, in the last two years, customer requests for premium products and services offered by Color Smart have continued to grow well above the market average, reaching 35-40% annually.

Following the investments planned for 2022, Color Smart aims for a 50% increase in turnover for this year, compared to 2021, up to 4 million euros.

“We estimate that in 2022 the turnover will increase by 50% compared to 2021. The expected increase comes as a result of all the strategic initiatives we carry out – expanding the network of own and partner showrooms, strengthening the national distribution system, bringing new product portfolios, strengthening relations with external suppliers, improving connections with the community of specialists, much greater visibility in the online environment, developing a community interested in exceptional arrangements. Of the forecasted turnover, only 5-8% will be due to the opening of the new Color Smart showroom in Timișoara. We expect truly spectacular growth from the second year, 2023, when we become better friends with local lovers of beautiful colors, and the unique value of the products and services that Color Smart offers will be obvious to most of the players in Timisoara market”, added Cătălina Trupșor.

The company’s development plans started at the beginning of the year, when Color Smart brought to Romania, for the first time, the premium plus paint brand Pittsburgh Paints, a world leader, and member of the PPG group, which has been revolutionizing the design segment for interior and exterior for almost 140 years with quality paints, high coverage, extremely easy to apply.

Through the expansion strategy, the company aims to be closer to the specialists and clients who need support throughout the projects. This will help to improve services, and delivery times, but also create optimal conditions for choosing the colors or textures needed for a dream interior design.

Currently, Color Smart has its own locations in Bucharest, Constanța and soon in Timișoara, as well as a network of 12 distributors nationwide: Cluj, Oradea, Craiova, Arad, Sibiu, Alba-Iulia, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Ploiești, Focșani, Bacău, Piatra Neamț, Brașov. The company is also present in 9 specialized warehouses in the country.

For 2022, the company aims to cover other important areas of the country such as Buzău, Galați-Brăila, Suceava-Botoșani, Iași, Hunedoara, Târgu-Jiu and Petroșani.

The company is also present in the online commerce, with two new stores.

The Color Smart portfolio includes a wide range of services that can be purchased by customers, from materials and accessories, to consulting services or to turnkey projects carried out with its teams of applicators.
