Vecinultau.ro is a national accessible and functional web app that facilitates the online, direct and free connection between the beneficiaries from vulnerable social groups – seniors over 65 years old, people with disabilities, mono parental families, etc- with volunteers in the near vicinity on a 1 up to 5 kilometers radius, registered in the platform. The volunteers can help the beneficiaries from the near proximity with three type of services: (i) delivering food, (ii) buying drugs, (iii) walking the pets. The help offered by a volunteer, first identified by a profile picture and the personal data, will grow the trust level.

By using the platform Vecinultau.ro the volunteers can deliver the shopping in their near vicinity (at the nearby store) and therefore diminishing the traffic and the social exposure that could rise the contamination risk.

The platform is available all over the country, including in the small communities usually unreachable by the civic help initiatives for the vulnerable persons. On a cost level, the services of connection and the service for walking the pets are free. The cost of food and drugs is the one of the receipt.

The volunteers are persons that can fill some clear criteria, NGOs, institutions, municipalities that want to help the neighbors, etc. How does it work? The beneficiaries can identify online on the map the volunteers in the close vicinity and can ask for the help directly, having a fast and easy access to the contact data – email address, phone number. Moreover, the friends and the relatives found in other cities /abroad and that cannot help the persons in need can also contact the volunteers, in order to give them assistance. The volunteers can download and print a poster, fill it with their contact details and stick it in the geographical area they are “using”, therefore facilitating the beneficiaries’ that are not connect to the Internet access to them.

All the participants must respect the social and mobility distancing and hygiene rules recommended during the COVID-19 pandemic and imposed by the platform.
