This holiday season, FREE NOW is launching Santa’s Fleet, offering free rides to passengers for safe traveling and donating the fare to children with disabilities

FREE NOW, Europe’s leading provider of multimodal mobility services, introduces a Santa’s Fleet in Bucharest and Cluj and offers free rides to passengers who ride with a car from the special fleet, to help them fulfill their holiday plans by traveling safely. In addition, the value of all rides completed between 18 and 22 December with the specially decorated cars from Santa’s Fleet will be donated to the Taxi with Candies Association and turned into holiday gifts for children with disabilities.

From 18 December, FREE NOW app users who order a ride can have the surprise of being picked-up by one of Santa’s special cars. In addition to the joy of getting into the holiday spirit thanks to the special decor with Santa or one of his reindeers, passengers will travel for free and thus contribute to the joy brought to children with disabilities, as the value of the fare will be donated with the help of the elves from the Taxi with Candies Association. In addition, anyone who takes a photo of a car in Santa’s Fleet on the street and posts a photo on their personal social media channels, along with #FREENOWXMAS, will automatically have the chance to participate in a holiday raffle and win a valuable prize.

The number of rides increases around the holidays and people’s plans diversify, as confirmed by the latest survey conducted by the FREE NOW platform, in which 455 Romanians participated, along with citizens from 9 other European countries. Thus, 80% of the Romanian respondents said that during this period they travel most often to go gift shopping and 78% to shop for home.

When it comes to Romanians’ plans for the holidays, most intend to spend time with family (74%), another 45% with friends, 19% will go out of town and only 3% are considering leaving the country for the holidays.

COVID-19 safety measures for holiday travel

Experts recommend avoiding crowded public transport and using low-risk mobility options during the pandemic period. FREE NOW promotes safe Christmas travel and urges drivers to regularly disinfect their cars after each passenger. Digital payment via the app helps keep interactions between drivers and passengers to a minimum.

FREE NOW is currently promoting road safety awareness in general as part of the #SafeWithUs campaign. During Safety Month, users receive specific in-app tips to increase road safety. In addition, FREE NOW is constantly working on developing new features in the app to ensure passenger safety.
