Generosity Week has started and everyone is invited to do a good deed on GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is the global movement dedicated to generosity and this year, in Romania, GivingTuesday becomes Generosity Week and takes place between 1 and 8 December. During this period, Romanians are invited to show solidarity and contribute with a gesture no matter how small to change a story, mood or even someone’s life.

The organizers of GivingTuesday Romania start the week of generosity with their own, unique initiative: “Order with your heart”. Between December 4-8, those who want to do a good deed and at the same time enjoy a delicious meal, can order food from some of the most appreciated chefs and food bloggers in the country. Marius Tudosiei, Răzvan Dumitrescu, Adina Chițu (Pancake Planet) and Georgiana Murășan (Baking Adventure) are the ones who said “Yes” to the invitation to cook pro bono, on the occasion of GivingTuesday, using ingredients offered by Cora supermarket. Their dishes can be ordered in the next period using the foodpanda application and will be found in the menu of Burger Van restaurant.

Delivery is free of charge, and the money raised from the sale of the dishes will be donated to „N-avem Sânge” project created by HEM Association. „N-avem Sânge” is the main national program that stimulates voluntary blood donation and is based on a relevant insight, related to courage. The money will be used for campaigns that will mobilize people cured by COVID-19 to donate blood and plasma from.

László Bodor, co-founder of Envision Association, the organization that brought the GivingTuesday movement to Romania, says that “we took advantage of the fact that this year we have a whole week for good deeds and we set up a heartfelt collaboration. We all have something to give, so we brought together partners from different fields to do well together. Thus, we came up with the idea of making available to Romanians a series of special GivingTuesday dishes, cooked for them by 4 loved chefs and food bloggers. It is a real gathering of forces, partners who put their heart into transforming our idea into reality. Cora helped us with the ingredients, foodpanda provided the application and free shipping, Burger Van helped us with logistics, the chefs cooked the tastiest dishes, and people will put their heart into ordering them. We are grateful and thankful to everyone for their involvement. Together we are stronger.”

“We all have something to give” is the message of the initiative this year and it opens the door to an emotional series of stories of those who gave, received and learned at the same time that generosity is available to anyone. This year, GivingTuesday is marked by the power of examples provided by good people. Vladimir Drăghia, Mirela Retegan, Cristian Hrubaru, Toader Păun, Alex Grecu, Ariel Constantinof, Andreea Vasile and Marius Manole are just a few of those who talk about what it means to be generous.
