FREE NOW (Clever) supports the medical personnel fighting against the coronavirus and the personnel from institutions involved in the management of the emergency situation, in partnership with the Association of Students from the Bucharest Polytechnic University. The company has created a dedicated section for these heroes from hospitals in the FREE NOW taxi and ridesharing app, through which they can order free rides to and from work during the emergency situation, based on their badge.

”Doctors and all those who are directly involved in managing the emergency situation are in a continuous race against the virus and need all the support. They are heroes from hospitals and this is why FREE NOW is now starting this initiative to help them get to work or home as quickly and safely as possible, avoiding the risks associated with commuting or using their own means of transportation after an exhausting shift”, said Anca Gherle, Public Affairs Manager at FREE NOW (Clever).

Free rides are provided with the support of a special fleet of partner drivers who volunteered to support the heroes fighting against the coronavirus. At this moment, about 200 partner drivers from Bucharest have joined the initiative and will exclusively drive doctors and personnel involved in managing the emergency situation.

FREE NOW makes all efforts to find other heroes among partner drivers, willing to volunteer their car and time to drive doctors, without expecting any compensation, and aims to extend help to other cities in the country where the application is available. For safe driving, the company has identified a solution to equip cars with a divider between the front seats and the rear seat.

In support of the volunteer drivers, FREE NOW has  also partnered with the Association of Students from the Bucharest Polytechnic University, through which anyone can lend a hand, from their own home, for the heroes from hospitals in the race against the coronavirus. The more donations, the more rides for doctors, but also financial support for fuel and expenses for masks, disinfectants and gloves needed for safe rides. All information on how the community can help is available on free-now.com/eroi.

”The Association of Students from the Bucharest Polytechnic University has always been present when the situation required. I think this is an important time when every student can help, so that we can easily overcome this difficult situation. In addition to the fact that we are, according to statistics, outside the age group at risk, I think we have a duty, both to the doctors and to our parents and grandparents, to be involved, to be responsible and to act when the need arises”, said Porumbița Antonio, general coordinator of the Association of Students from the Bucharest Polytechnic University.

”The university is always close to its students. Now, more than ever, we will support them in all their actions to help those in need. Moreover, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest is involved, together with other institutions, to develop mechanisms to combat and prevent the epidemic. In addition to joint efforts to help, it is important these days for each of us to be as responsible as possible”, said Mihnea Costoiu, rector Universitatea Politehnică București.
