Chimcomplex has received from the Ministry of Health the production approval for 1.25% concentration sodium hypochlorite. The company has modified its industrial production lines during the last weeks, in order to prioritize the production of sodium hypochlorite, this being a necessary product for public health in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic. Starting tomorrow, hypochlorite will be launched into production on the Râmnicu Vâlcea and Onești platforms in an effort to slow down and limit the spread of COVID-19 in Romania.

“We thank the Ministry of Health and the government for the fast response to our request for a priority approval. We are proud that a local company can contribute its knowledge and expertise to limiting the spread of this virus. We have accelerated investment and are preparing infrastructure so that we can distribute hypochlorite as efficiently as possible at national level. Our production capacities can cover national needs during this period, under an intense 24/7 production and packaging program” said Tivadar Runtag, Chimcomplex CEO.

The first deliveries will be prioritized according to emergencies and institutions in acute need for disinfection of external premises. The company estimates that it will initially reach a delivery capacity of 1,000 tons per county.

Chlorine is the safest solution for disinfection. Used in recommended concentrations is not harmful to the human body and the environment, and therefore the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommend it for surface sanitization against the COVID-19 virus.

These products are available primarily on the Romanian market, for public institutions as well as for all economic operators. For the time being, the product will be delivered in one-ton IBC packaging or in car tanks, and in the following period it will be distributed bottled in other containers for household users.

Chimcomplex is open to partnering with local companies in the coming period to distribute products as efficiently as possible at national level.

“Chimcomplex is a responsible company that guarantees that this product is safe in the fight against Covid-19. We have mobilized ourselves at all levels and will donate hundreds of tons of hypochlorite to national state institutions and to local institutions in the communities where we operate, as well as to employees and former employees for their own use” said Ştefan Vuza, the Chairman of Chimcomplex.

“As we anticipate that during this period there will be significant pressure on our production and logistics capabilities, we ask customers to submit requests for this product only by e-mail to clorosodice@chimcomplex.com to get in touch with our sales team” added Armand Spiru, Chief Commercial Officer Chimcomplex.

The company has been producing sodium hypochlorite solution with a concentration of 12.5% since 1960, having a biocidal approval issued by the National Commission for Biocidal Products. The product is marketed both nationally and internationally and is used in Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia and 31 other countries.

Chimcomplex is the only manufacturer in Romania of active biocidal substances based on chlorine and sodium hypochlorite and one of the most important chemical manufacturers in Romania. The company operates the largest chemical plant in Romania, with 2 industrial platforms, one in Onești and the other in Râmnicu Vâlcea and is the largest exporter with Romanian private capital.

With over 60 years of experience, the company produces and sells Chlorosodic products, polyols-polyethers, plastic oxoalcohols, inorganic chlorides, organic solvents, alkylamines produced by organic synthesis and technical gases as well as other solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of communities and industries.
