FEPRA International takes the lead in sustainable economic, social, and environmental development, by joining the UN Global Compact, the largest civic initiative in the world

FEPRA International, one of the leading organizations for the transfer of responsibility in the field of packaging, has adhered as a partner to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact Initiative, the world’s largest citizenship initiative, which focuses on universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

With this new action, FEPRA International is proud to join thousands of other companies globally committed to taking responsible business actions and support the work in solving some of the most pressing societal issues, starting from the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and climate change.

“Being one of the main companies in the sector of recycling and recovery of packaging waste in Romania, we have set the goal to improve our business policies, from year to year, through sustainable mechanisms that have a positive impact on the environment. Our priority actions have always been to develop practices that really help to change individual behaviours, regardless of ethnicity, age, and geographical location, when it concerns separate packaging waste collection and environmental education. We have applied the same practices by encouraging gender equality – through support for women to join our company, or in the effort to reduce our carbon footprint – by implementing a digital and transparent reporting system. In other words, through our activity, we try to maintain a balance between the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental. Therefore, we look forward to joining the UN Global Compact Initiative, as our work will be under the umbrella of an international mechanism that has the ability to guide us in our efforts to create a union between man and the environment, but also to credit our work, as we are doing what we know best in this field”, said Ionuț Georgescu, General Manager FEPRA.

The UN Global Compact provides support and it is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

FEPRA International, through the nature of its activities and company values, is one of the leading companies in Romania dealing with environmental issues, promoting environment desirable policies and the benefits of ecological and sustainable consumption for a shift towards a functional circular economy and a responsible consumption society.

The company develops regular information and educational campaigns to improve reuse and recycling behaviours reaching more than 1 million Romanian citizens, while taking responsibility to recycle for more than 200.000 tons of packaging a year and fulfilling recycling targets for over 700 Romanian customers.

As a Participant of the initiative, we encourage you to visit our profile on the UN Global Compact website and learn more about our latest sustainability work.
