Bergenbier SA, part of the Molson Coors Beverage Company group – one of the most important companies on the Romanian beer market – launched the Sustainability Report for 2020 which shows the progress made in achieving the global objectives of Our Beer Imprint 2025 to contribute to protection of our people, the environment and communities.

The goals set, organized on three pillars – promoting responsible consumption, grain-to-glass efficiency, support for people and communities – make all the actions of Bergenbier S.A. move towards protecting resources and developing a sustainable future.

Starting with November 2019, Bergenbier S.A. did not send any type of household waste to the landfill, the recovery percentage being 100% (recovery by recycling or energy recovery). In 2020, a total of 35,348,039 kg of packaging was placed on the market, generating 4089.27 tons of waste, of which 4089.12 tons were recycled and 0.15 tons were disposed of in a controlled manner.

98% of the raw materials used in the production of beer in the Bergenbier factory in Ploiesti are of local origin, which contributed to encouraging the local economy.

Bergenbier S.A., a company located in the top three brewers in Romania, it produces the production at the plant factory in Ploiesti and has a high-performance national distribution network. The company has over 650 employees and has paid to the Romanian state taxes and fees for 2020 amounting to over 196 million lei.

“I am proud to be part of the Bergenbier S.A. Family, a company that in a difficult 2020 year for all, has shown solidarity, unity and support for partners and customers. Together we found the strength to continue at the same level. Our success was determined by the strong team from Bergenbier, true professionals in the beer industry, who worked with enviable agility, together with our partners in modern and traditional trade and distribution partners. I have felt the passion and determination of everyone during all this time and I thank them for their friendship and partnership. We are determined to continue on the path of responsibility and sustainability in compliance with the principles of a fair business environment, to improve every year the footprint of the beer we produce, to make more efficient use of resources in any activity”, said Mihai Voicu, General Manager of Bergenbier SA.

In 2020, our care for the environment and the degree of involvement in sustainability projects have remained unchanged. In this regard, Bergenbier S.A. carried out the third stage of the project “You cool down and reforest!”, one of the largest reforestation projects organized by a brewer. Out of the desire to give back to nature from the coolness it offers and due to the long-term commitment to maintaining and caring for planted areas, along with friends from “Plantam fapte bune in Romania” and Forest Schools were planted another 50,000 seedlings, their total number reaching 150,000 in 2020.

Together with the Romanian Brewers Association, Bergenbier S.A. supported the campaign #MancareDeSuflet #SOSHoReCa, which aims to draw consumers’ attention to the economic situation in the hospitality sector, strongly affected by the interruption of activity during the state of emergency.

Moreover, the company was involved in the project “From the First Line to the First Line!” through which the sanitary units from all over Romania received materials of strict necessity in the treatment of COVID-19 infected persons.

The sustainability report that you can consult here includes information referring to Bergenbier SA, part of Molson Coors Beverage Company, with operations throughout Romania, in the Bergenbier Ploiesti Factory, the headquarters in Voluntari, Ilfov and the local sales offices in every county.
