Sorina Faier: Typical jobs in digitization

There are a large number of professions that cannot be easily replaced by machines. As a result, these traditional professions also have a future. But that doesn’t mean that the way we work won’t change. Many activities now have to be carried out much more flexibly than in the past. The digital society is networked, mobile, always online and sometimes even virtual.

The skilled workers of the future must take this development into account. Virtual teams are a good example. In contrast to traditional working groups that work on a project together at a specific location, virtual teams operate independently of the location, autonomously and sometimes even at different times. However, this requires the willingness to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, such as the use of online collaboration tools.

Digital leadership is in demand. Not only the skilled workers, but also the executives have to change. In digital teams, management is more cooperative and data-based. Expertise or experience count less than the ability to think and lead across borders.

Automation, robots and algorithms will mean that some job profiles are no longer filled as often as they used to be. At the same time, digitization is also creating new professions with a future and potential – for example in programming, maintenance and control of digital helpers.

Typical professions with a future in digitization are programmers, data analysts and online marketing experts. But creative professionals such as editors and hairdressers as well as professionals with high qualifications such as doctors or teachers do not have to worry too much. Professions with highly repetitive activities such as cashiers or accountants, on the other hand, are already gradually being replaced by machines.

Programmers are at the top of the list of jobs with a future. Because every new technology needs software to work. The need for programmers is hardly met today.

Systems and data analysts: The amount of data has grown explosively in recent years. Conventional data analysis is no longer sufficient. Proven experts are needed to organize and process the flood of data.

Online Marketing Experts: The entire trade is shifting more and more to the Internet. As a result, advertising also moves there. Online marketers take on the advertising measures for large brands as well as for small niche shops.

IT security experts: The growing IT infrastructure makes the respective companies more susceptible to cyber-attacks of all kinds. This results in an increased need for specialists who are familiar with digital security measures.

3D printers seemed just a gimmick at first. But now the printers are replacing entire production chains and showing amazing results. Of course, this requires specialists who can operate the printer.
