At the latest edition of the Working Romania conference, Cristina Mancas, HRVP SEE at Schneider Electric, delivered a compelling presentation on the innovative human resources strategies deployed within Schneider Electric to nurture and retain top talent. Mancas highlighted their 3-month intensive program, a cornerstone initiative that not only attracts quality talent but also ensures their growth and retention within the company.

She discussed how Schneider Electric has embraced digital transformation in HR practices, especially through platforms that facilitate mentoring and internal mobility, thus enabling employees to seamlessly navigate through various roles and geographies, including notable transfers like one to Singapore focusing on sustainability.

“Our branch may not be large enough to run an internship or training program for 100 people, but we do have a 3-month intensive program that successfully brings in a few dedicated colleagues each year who choose to stay with us. It’s interesting to see their roles evolve, whether within our organization in Romania or elsewhere, contributing to the global talent pool. In the competitive market, it’s essential to offer something tangible, such as well-being and flexible benefits, which have become standard across many companies. We strive to accommodate all our colleagues’ needs, from engineers playing soccer to offering yoga sessions at the office, though we’ve had to adapt these activities over time.

In response to changing workplace dynamics, especially during the pandemic, we’ve launched several digital platforms. One such platform enables colleagues to seek out mentors who can guide them through specific departmental processes or working conditions in different countries. This initiative reflects our commitment to continuous learning and adaptation. Another proud achievement is a platform developed during the pandemic, which facilitated internal mentorship and job mobility, allowing our team to explore opportunities within the company, not just in Romania but globally. This has led to successful internal transfers, including a colleague who moved to Singapore to work in sustainability. These platforms demonstrate our dedication to supporting our colleagues’ professional growth and mental well-being, challenging the conventional norms in our part of the world.”
