According to a survey conducted by BCR, women and men own banking products (current account, card, internet banking) in equal proportions, although in some areas of Romania the percentage is in favor of women: Bucharest – 53 percent, Harghita – 55 percent, Covasna – 56 percent and Salaj- 54 percent.
The same report presents the women’s tendency of using banking product. Around 60 percent of the current account packages sold between October 2012 – March 2013 were bought by women under 40 years old. Moreover, 90 percent of women under 50 years old have debit cards for their current accounts, whereas 29 percent of those between 18-40 years old are using internet banking. When it comes to POS payments, 47 percent of the women clients use this service, while 45 percent pay the bills using an ATM.
