Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has made it to the final four in the Single Ladies’ challenge at Wimbledon 2014. Halep needed only 57 minutes to win the match against German player Sabine Lisicki, with the game ending 6-4 6-0.

This is the best performance ever achieved by a Romanian player at Wimbledon ever. Virginia Ruzici managed to reach the quarterfinals twice in the past.

For reaching the semifinals, Halep will receive GBP 440,000 and 780 WTA points. Furthermore, if she reaches the final she will climb to the second position in the WTA ranking.

Third seed Simona Halep will meet Eugenie Bouchard in the Wimbledon semi-finals after both completed straight-sets quarter-final victories.

Bouchard, the 13th seed from Canada, reached her third Grand Slam semi-final of the year with a 6-3 6-4 win over German Angelique Kerber.

Czech pair Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova will meet in the other semi, writes BBC.
