Central bank board member candidates had until Friday, 14.000, to apply for membership. By Friday afternoon, Mugur Isărescu, Cristian Popa, Bogdan Olteanu, Daniel Dăianu, Marin Dinu, Nicolae Dănilă, Agnes Nagy and Virgil Stoenescu had all applied, according to PDL deputie, Gheorghe Ialomitianu.

The candidates are supported by different political factions, although Ialomitianu said that this support can change over the weekend, by the time the Parliamentary commissions take place on Monday.

PSD-UNPR-PC support Florin Georgescu, Cristian Popa, Daniel Dăianu, Marin Dinu, Nicolae Dănilă.

PNL is on the side of Bogdan Olteanu, Agnes Nagy has UDMR’s support and Virgil Stoenescu is backed by PDL.

Mugur Isarescu has the support of Romania’s entire political class.

“With the information that I have, there is a possibility that parliamentary groups and the Finance Ministry will support Liviu Voinea and Gheorghe Gherghina on Monday”, Ialomitianu said, claiming that the two may leave the Finance Ministry because they openly criticized certain measures.

“Gherghina and Voinea tried to limit certain proposals for funding that other ministers have brought. There is a lack of appreciation for their activity and at least one of their jobs will soon be up for grabs for a UNPR member”, according to sources cited by Mediafax.

The two Parliament Chambers will reunite on Monday, 4 pm, to select the new board members for BNR, The Account Court and SRR. The members of the two chambers will also vote on a new SRTV president and a new ASF board member.
