Vodafone Romania saw a 6.4 percent y-o-y increase in the number of customers during the second quarter of fiscal year 2015-2016, ended September 30, 2015, according to results reported by Vodafone Group Plc.
Vodafone Romania had some 9 million customers at the end of September, the number increasing by 546,371 compared to the same period last year. Of the total number of customers over 93 percent (some 8.4 million) are users of mobile services.
Prepaid users made up 59.3 percent of the company’s total customers, while subscribers accounted for 40.7 percent.
The penetration of smartphones in user base grew by 7 percentage points year on year, while the company’s smartphone sales rose 63 percent over the same period last year.
The mobile average revenue per user reached EUR 6.2 in the three months ended September 30, 2015, while Vodafone Romania’s service revenue reached EUR 172.9 million, up 4 percent over the same period last year in organic terms.
Mobile data consumption increased by 135.6 percent in the quarter ended September 30 compared to the same period last year.
Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group Plc, having equity interests in 26 countries and 57 partner networks worldwide and fixed broadband operations in 17 countries. On September 30, 2015, Vodafone had 454 million users of mobile services and 12.5 million fixed broadband service users.
