US Embassy hosts consular working group meeting in Romania

The US Embassy Bucharest hosted on Friday a consular working group meeting co-chaired by the US consul general and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs US/Canada director that addressed matters related to law enforcement and consular affairs.

Representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and US Embassy officials attended the meeting.

“The Working Group met under the auspices of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the U.S. and Romania with the aim of discussing a number of issues including consular affairs, law enforcement, and visa issues. The participants noted significant progress on strengthening travel safety and security, law enforcement cooperation and visa matters,” said the embassy in a statement.

This is the third meeting of the working group. Meetings are held quarterly and the next one is due this November.
