“Four years ago, it was a first, the breaking of a racial barrier. Tuesday night, it was history redux. And more”, writes CNN regarding the re-election of Barack Obama. He has taken at least 303 electoral votes – more than the majority of 270 required for victory, winning in 26 states, while Mitt Romney has received only 206 electoral votes, with 24 states on his side.

The Romanian president Traian Basescu congratulated Obama, saying in the official message that “I am very pleased to write to you to congratulate on the occasion of victory in the presidential election on November 6. Both your successful campaign for re-election and determination heading to a new vision of America where prosperity is shared by all, drew attention to Romanians and nations around the world. Your re-election comes in a very favorable moment for the Romanian-US strategic partnership. Progressive relationship built step by step has always been the dynamic force of our bilateral partnership”.
