US citizens living in Romania are meeting today, starting 19.00 for a multimedia event to support the re-election of president Barack Obama. The event, which will take place in the ING building on the Iancu de Hunedoara boulevard, is supported by the Romanian-American Committee for the Re-election of President Obama.

Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to find out more about the Democrat candidate, the issues of the 2012 elections, or how to register to vote overseas. Participants will get the chance to register for the next event Get Out The Vote (GOTV), scheduled to take place on election day. A special message of former US ambassador to Romania Jim Rosapepe will be broadcast.

The Committee for the Re-election of President Obama is presided by John and Radu Florescu. The committee is part of an international network meant to motivate US citizens living abroad to vote. There are approximately 10 million US citizens living outside of the United States. Around 1 million US citizens of Romanian origin live currently in the US, mainly in New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Florida and Georgia.
