Mihail Vlasov has been arrested preemptively for 30 days, after a decision was issued by the Bucharest Appeal Court on Wednesday.
Previously, the head of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry had been detained by the authorities under suspicion of trading influence.
The decision is not final and can be appealed.

The president of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), Mihail Vlasov, was taken into custody by Romanian authorities on Wednesday after having been caught receiving a EUR 200,000 alleged bribe, writes stirileprotv.ro.
Vlasov will be detained for 24 hours and prosecutors request his preventive arrest for trading influence.
On Tuesday evening, Vlassov allegedly received the first tranche of EUR 1 million in bribe. The CCIR president was paid to intervene at the Court of Arbitrage, which is under the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s umbrella.
Mihail Vlasov (70 years) has been the president of the Chamber since 2007. He has been accused of coruption before, in 2012, when 12 Chambes of Commerce regional directors sent a common complaint to DNA showing that Vlasov used the funds of CCIR for his own purposes.
