The Adamescu family wants to connect its Unirea Shopping Center in downtown Bucharest to the nearby subway station (Piata Unirii) this year. They are also planning on opening a cinema and new stores, writes MEDIAFAX.

The owners also want to add a bowling and ice skating rink to both shopping centers they own (in Bucuresti and Brasov), either within the existing facilities, or in adjoining locations, according to a report on the stock market.

In the Bucharest store, some 1,200 sqm will be freed out after some stores will relocate in the galleria which will connect to the metro station Unirea. Discussions are ongoing to bring in more brands from the Inditex group (Zara, Masismo Dutti, Bershka and Pull&Bear). The owners want to bring in new tenants such as MAC, Wolford or Tchibo.

H&M will also expand its existing shop with its home design addition on the second floor.

Unirea Shopping Center ended 2013 with a turnover of EUR 17 million, down 8 percent on the year and a profit of EUR 637,048, down 51 percent on the year.

The company is owned by Dan and Carmen Adamescu, through The Nova Group Investments Romania which owns 74.16 percent of the shares. SIF Muntenia is another major shareholder with 10 percent, while the other 15.8 percent is split between different minority shareholders.
