Kiev-based Vikoil Ltd, specialised in gprospecting, has opened a branch in Romania, the only one outside Ukraine, and targets activities in the onshore and offshore prospects of oil and gas, mainly in the unconventional category, writes economica.net.
The company is the largest of its kind in Ukraine and owned by Serghei Ushniskiy. The Romanian branch will be managed by Vladimir Gryshanenko and is currently headquartered on Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard.
Vikoil Ltd was founded in January 2003 to provide geological prospecting services to local and foreign oil and gas companies. The company’s main activity is 2D and 3D seismic prospecting to research and prospect oil and gas fields. It currently employs over 300 people.
Its main competitor on the local prospect market will be Prospectiuni SA, owned by Ovidiu tender. Among other projects, Prospectiuni SA was hired by Chevron for exploration work concerning shale gas in Vaslui and Constanta. The results of these studies have not been published yet by Chevron.
