Catalin Baiculescu, the former co-managing partner and deputy managing partner with law firm Musat & Asociatii, joined independent law firm Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii as partner, in a high profile move that is effective from June 22.
Baiculescu has spent 15 years with Musat & Asociatii, where he held top management positions since 2008.
According to Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii representatives, the hire would further strengthen the firm’s M&A, banking and IT&C practices.
“Given the professional experience that we shared with Catalin for seven years, his choice is a natural one: he joins former teammates, those lawyers who, 15 to 20 years ago, dreamed of changing the ‘face’ of the legal market,” said Florentin Tuca, managing partner.
Gabriel Zbarcea, managing partner, added the firm will be looking to strengthen specific areas of practices and targets business growth opportunities as it entered into a new development phase.
“At least two more lawyers will be promoted to partnership by the end of this year,” said Zbarcea. The firm has 100 lawyers, including 21 partners.
Baiculescu served as a Parliamentary advisor and acted as legal counsel to the World Bank prior to becoming an attorney.
