Newsroom 14/02/2014 | 15:18

If you’re looking for a place to have a romantic dinner in Bucharest, here are 10 options to make your date swoon. Also, be on the look out for the next issue of Business Review Magazine for an in depth article on what exactly makes a restaurant romantic..

Barka Saffron
Mr. Stefan Sanatescu 1
021.224.10.04For romance with an oriental flavor, choose Barka Saffron. The menu is predominantly indian, but if you or your date are in the mood for schnitzels and ciorba, they have that covered also.

Le Bistrot Francais
Episcopiei 3

If you want to impress your date with haute cuisine, then head for Le Bistrot Francaise. You get the feeling as soon as you walk in that it’s the kind of restaurant that New York yuppies would fight over to get a reservation. If we lived in New York that is. For Bucharest though, the ingredients are fresh, the atmosphere is sober and the prices are very predictably higher than average.

Dada Bistro
Matei Voievod 94 bis
In spite of the Romanian’s natural aversion to ideas of “concept-restaurant” and “fusion-restaurant” (we’re a meat and potatoes kind of people after all), Dada Bistro managed to survive and proper. We’re talking culinary avangarde here, and an interior fit for a fashion show or a art exposition.

Zabaione
Piata Charles de Gaulle 3
0376.20.33.40
Zabaione takes its name from a famous Italian desert and it is indeed one sweet decadent restaurant. Located in an old villa next to Charles de Gaulle Square, it is open everyday between 13:00 and 22:00.

Chocolat

Not really a restaurant, not exactly a cafe, but certainly a delicious collection of sweets and deserts that you will be happy to share with your loved one. Chocolat has several locations in Bucharest, but your favourite is the one near Dorobanti.

rossetyaRossetya
Dimitrie Bolintineanu 9
0748.220.220, 031.805.91.99
“At the “Rossetya”, everything is about rebuilding the well being entirety of those who enter the local threshold”, the website tells us. 19th century Bucharest, or “Little Paris”, comes alive in the restaurant’s alcoves. The menu comes in seven options (Monastery, Bourgeois, Greek- Phanariot, French, Russian, Austro-Hungarian, Turkish-Oriental), a reflection of the cuisine most popular in the period the restaurant is trying to capture.

Astrodom
Alexandru Constantinescu 33 (on the top of the Residence Hotel)
For a romantic kiss on top of the world, check out the Astrodom terrace, one of the most beautiful terraces in the city. Maybe a tad to cold to visit in February, we couldn’t leave it out of a list of romantic spots in Bucharest.

Mystic Tree
Str. Popa Soare 7
Mystic Tree is a restaurant of British influence and as such the atmosphere is not as cosy and warm as in other examples included in this list. It is however very fresh and charming and the menu has a few choice items (try the shredded pancakes with ice cream).

Casa Satya
Banu Manta 25
0788 788 777
Vegetarians are free to express their love and protect their principles at Casa Satya, also a place where there is no smoking allowed. At all. The kitchen is open only until 21:00 so make sure to arrive there early.

Joseph Restaurant
Dr. Ion Cantacuzino 8joseph restaurant
0753.999.333
Chef Joseph Hadad is on a quest to turn his self-named restaurant in one of the best fine – dining experiences in Bucharest. The restaurant’s profile is Mediterranean, so feel free to splurge on the octopus carpaccio or Saint Jacques sea shells. True love never did run cheap, so expect to pay on average RON 150 per menu. An extravaganza platter for two people (Lobster, baby calamari, Jumbo shrimps, octopus, lime sauce with garlic, Mediterranean sauce, black rice) costs RON 320.
