The authorities canceled the tip taxation on Friday afternoon, Public Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici announced in a statement at the ministry’s headquarters, according to Mediafax. “Unfortunately it cannot be regulated in all its test cases,” said Teodorovici, referring to the tip taxation.

He added that although tip taxation was introduced at the request of the business environment, its application would be extremely difficult.

According to the minister, the change could be operated as of June 1 by the Parliament.

Teodorovici met on Friday HoReCa industry representatives, but also representatives of employers and workers in taxi service, for consultation on tip taxation.

The minister said that the discussions with the employers targeted several possibilities, including the option to freeze the implementation of the order until January 1 or to optionally apply the order to each operator.

The government decided on April 22 to legislate the tip, which was to be printed on a separate tax receipt.
