Things to do during the weekend despite the bad weather

It might be freezing outside throughout the weekend, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of reasons to get out of the house and enjoy a show, a concert, or a play at the theater.

Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme will be performed on Friday, January 22, at the Bucharest National Opera for an early start to the weekend, with the show beginning at 7pm.

In terms of where to go with the kids, The Little Prince can be seen at the Tandarica Theater, a show available for all ages over 3 years old, according to the Tandarica website. Another play specifically designed for 4 to 12-year-olds is the Land of Stories, at the Excelsior Theater on Sunday, January 24, starting at 10am.

Also at the theatre, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, adapted from the novel of the same name by Mark Haddon, will be playing on Saturday, January 23, starting at 8pm. At the Excelsior Theater, the #TEENSPIRIT play is on Friday from 7pm, and the History Boys will be playing on Sunday from 6pm.

Another event happening in Bucharest over the course of this weekend is the Dress a tree with clothes for the homeless event organized by the Samusocial in Romania NGO, taking place from January 19 to January 24. According to the event’s Facebook page, “Samusocial in Romania will collect the donated clothes and will distribute them, daily, to the homeless”. Given the warnings from the Romanian National Meteorology Administration that temperatures will remain extremely low, especially in the mornings and over the nights, until Monday, January 25, this weekend is not the right time to be without warm winter clothes.
