The Romanian state organizes tender for national telecom infrastructure project next year

The Romanian Ministry for Information Society will organize on January 7, 2014, a public tender to attribute construction works of a national telecommunications network that covers poor areas of Romania in 35 counties.

The RO-NET project will be financed with EU funds, being estimated at approximately EUR 38 million (RON 369.5 million, VAT included), according to Mediafax newswire.

“The works will be carried out with structural funds. The target localities are distributed across seven regions consolidated from the geographic and administration point of view. The sum for unforeseen expenses is RON 7,164,210, representing 2.46 percent of the estimated value of the contract,” according to the announcement published on the e-licitatie.ro website.

The winner of the tender will operate the network in a concession system for 18 years, with the option to buy it afterwards.
