The Ministry of European Funds launches state scheme for young graduates

The Romanian Ministry for European Funds will launch a de minimis scheme of EUR 40 million to help young graduates get a job and support the development of SMEs, according to Agerpres newswire.

According to this scheme, companies will receive subsidies for hiring young graduates. The necessary paperwork for opening this call for applications was published on Friday, May 23, in the Official Gazette.

The projects can be registered in the Action Web informatic system starting June 6 2014, 10 a.m. until June 11, 2014, 4.00 p.m.

“Approximately EUR 40 million from European funds granted to Romania via the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development will be used to subsidize the first jobs for high-schoolers and students graduating this year. The subsidy covers the payment of a net salary of RON 900 for graduates with pre-university education and RON 1,300 for graduates with higher education for up to six months and a year. Employers who benefit from these subsidies must maintain the newly created positions for a time corresponding to the period for which they cashed in the subsidiy. I want to make clear that companies are under the obligation to maintain open the position, not the person they hired initially, because we intend to encourage competition on the labor market,” said Eugen Teodorovici, minister for European Funds.

In the case of micro-enterprises, the scheme will cover at most 3 positions per each company, for small companies at most 7 positions and for mid-size companies at most 15 positions. The subventions will be released monthly.
