Starting January 1, 2014, the price of gas has grown by 1 percent for the Romanian population and by 2 percent for the industry, as part of the process of liberalization of the natural gas market, as announced by Niculae Havrilet, president of the National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE), quoted by Agerpres newswire.
“The growth in prices stands at half of what was stipulated in the initial calendar of the liberalization, where it said that starting January 1, 2014, gas prices will grow by 2 percent for the population and 4 percent for industrial consumers,” said Havrileț.
The liberalization calendar was established by the government and the IMF in 2012. It stipulates the total liberalization of the market for individual consumers until December 31, 2018, while for the industry, the liberalization process should be complete by December 31, 2014. However, this term can be extended by a year, in case the difference between the price of the gas produced internally and the price of the imported gas is too high.
On the other hand, the price of electricity has remained the same at January 1, 2014.
As far as the tax for special constructions that energy producers must pay starting January 1, 2014, the first step is to set the value of the tax.
