The EC approves the subway expansion from structural funds

Newsroom 01/05/2013 | 09:04

The European Commission has approved that projects for the construction of the subway extension M4 (Parc Bazilescu- Straulesti) and M5 (Drumul Taberei- Universitate), as well as the construction of the highway between Sebes-Turda should be included among projects that are financed via the Sectoral Operational Programme Transport.

The investments will sum up EUR 2 billion and should be completed by the end of 2015, according to a press release from the Ministry of Transportation.

The Ministry of Transportation will thus be able to recover from the budget of the European Union approximately 85 percent of this investment from structural funds.

Currently, the technical and economic documentation is being prepared and in September the requests for financing and reimbursement of expenses will be submitted.
