Tchaikovsky’s No. 1 concert for piano and orchestra will be performed on Friday, November 7, at Sala Radio. This is one of the Russian composer’s most beloved and at the same time controversial compositions, given the story behind it.
Initially, Tchaikovsky dedicated the concert to a great piano player of the time, Nikolai Rubinstein, who in fact despised the piece. Tchaikovsky reoriented towards German piano player and conductor Hans Von Bulow who was also reluctant to play it. Eventually, the world warmed up to the no. 1 with Rubinstein becoming one of its biggest promoters.
The piece will be performed by the National Radio Orchestra, Dana Borsan on Piano and the orchestra will be conducted by Martin Panteleev.
In the second part of the evening, Sala Radio invites you to listen to another well-known musical compositions: Brahm’s Second Symphony, composed in 1877.
Tickets can be acquired on bilete.ro, in Romanian Post Offices, Germanos stores and Sala Radio’s ticket booth.
