Sorin Oprescu re-elected Bucharest mayor

Sorin Oprescu won a second mandate as mayor of Bucharest in yesterday’s elections, which he won, according to the first exit pools, with 64 – 66 percent of the votes.

The candidate of the Democratic Liberal Party, Silviu Prigoana, came second, with around 15 – 17 percent of the votes.

Independent candidate Nicusor Dan, who rallied the support of many civil society organizations, came third, with 6 – 8 percent of the votes.

The final results of the elections are expected to be released today.
