Simona Halep tops Romanians' Google searches in 2014

Google has published the list of the most popular searches that Romanians made in 2014, which until last year were reunited under the name Google Zeitgeist.

Tennis player Simona Halep has topped the search list, since her Rolland Garos and Champions Tour performances triggered the highest growth in searches on Google.

The presidential elections also triggered numerous searches like “what is the diaspora?”

The sports event of the year was the Soccer World Cup in Brazil, but tennis tournaments are raising more and more interest.

Eurovision was also another important event of the year. Romanians looked up information about Conchita Wurst, the winner of the contest.

In the entertainment category, the controversial film Nymphomaniac directed by Lars von Trier generated the highest online buzz.

Romanii Au Talent (Romanians Have Talent) is the TV show that gathered most searches in 2014.
