Simona Halep has qualified for the second round of the WTA tournament taking place in Shenzhen (China), with total prizes worth 500,000 US dollars, after defeating Annika Beck (DE), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the first round.
This was the third victory Halep scored against Beck, world’s no. 55.
It was also the first important match for Simona’s new coach, Victor Ionita.
Halep already secured for herself a cheque worth 4,928 US dollars and 30 WTA points, and in the next round she will face Russian player Natalia Vihlianteva (17 of age, WTA #584).
Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu was defeated by 6-1, 7-5 by Slovenian player Polona Hercog, on Monday, in the inaugural round.
