Nearly 63 percent of Romanians interviewed by Samsung Electronics Romania as part of the Live Smart survey said they are interested in buying one or more smart devices over the next year.

While nearly 23 percent want to acquire a Smart TV, about 29 percent are interested in a smartphone and 27.6 percent would like to buy a tablet.

The Live Smart survey was carried out in July on 450 internet users aged between 18 and 55, who live in the 10 largest Romanian cities.

Smart devices have been adopted in Romania at a fast pace. Appproximately 97 percent of internet users in large Romanian cities have a smartphone, while 38 percent have a tablet, 16 percent have a Smart TV and 2 percent have a smart camera, finds the survey.

Smartphones are mostly used for surfing the internet by 84 percent of users, to check the weather forecast by 52 percent of users, to log on social networks in the case of 49 percent of users and for instant messaging by 45 percent of users.

Also, 57 percent of smartphone users want to have internet connection all the time to check their e-mail.

On the other hand, just 20 percent use their smartphone to access dedicated applications

95 percent of tablet owners go online while 61.5 percent go on social networks. Only 41 percent of tablet owners said they know all the features of their tablet and have tried to access them at least once.

Smart TVs are used for YouTube in 57 percent of cases, internet surfing in 50 percent of cases, and connecting to other devices such as smartphones and tablets in 46 percent of the cases.

On the other hand, 55 percent of those who do not use a smart TV are also attracted by the idea of going online directly from the TV.

While smartphones are used equally by men and women, especially youngsters, men are more prone to use tablets and Smart Tv, being more interested in technology than women.

Samsung launched in Romania the UHD TV range on August 5th. The flagship model UHD TV 85S9 with an 85-inch display and a resolution of 8 mln pixels can be acquired in the Samsung partner stores at the price of RON 154,999.

Other two models that were launched were the UHD F9000 of 65 inches and 55 inches that sell for recommended prices of EUR 7,000 and EUR 5,000 respectively.
