Romexpo will resume the expansion and upgrading works and will invest EUR 10 million over the next two years, according to Mediafax.

Through the expansion and upgrading project, the gross interior exhibit area will increase with 36,000 sqm by building two new pavilions. The new pavilions will operate both as exhibiting areas and as events and congress center to host meetings and conferences.

The works on Romexpo expansion and upgrading started in 2008, amid the strong economic growth of Romania and the strong positive trend registered by the fair and exhibition market, the value of the project being estimated at EUR 36 million at the time.

The subsequent world economic crisis in 2008 led to the postponement of the project as the exhibition market in Romania suffered a severe contraction of around 30-35 percent, leveling off towards the end of 2012.

This year Romexpo aims at introducing in its exhibition program 7 new exhibitions and fairs and to organize 31 new events dedicated to the business environment.
