The local operational leasing market rose by 12.3 percent to over 45,000 units at the end of the second quarter against the same period of last year, according to data by the Association of Operational Leasing Firms (ASLO).

The operational leasing firms have registered around 5,400 new cars in the first six months of this year, accounting for over 15 percent of all registration of cars and small commercial vehicles.

Daniel Ivan, ASLO president, said: “The demand for operational leasing and fleet management services has significantly increased in the first part of this year, and the results have not been expected for long, the trend being materialized through the signing of an increased number of contracts compared to 2013.”

“The relaunch of investments thorough the increase of EU funds, and the increase of competitiveness, which lead to a reduction of costs for final clients have contributed to this.”

The association expects the market to reach 47,000 units by the end of this year.

Data from ASLO member companies shows data 69 percent of the market accounts for full operational leasing services (financing and fleet management).
