Some 100,000 airline tickets were sold online in Romania last year and the forecast is that this will go up by at least 15 percent in 2013, according to Paravion, the online travel agency of Happy Tour.

“Each year we are witnessing consumer behavior changes in Romania when it comes to the acquisition tourism services and this means that in a very near future Romanians will choose and book everything that means airline tickets and holiday packages on their smartphone or tablet”, said Remus Visan, managing director at Paravion Tour.

Paravion is rolling out a communication campaign throughout the month of June which aims to educate the Romanian consumers on the ease and safety of online booking. The company is also investing in technical upgrades for its online platform, said Paravion representatives.

Paravion is part of travel group Happy Tour, the leader of the Romanian travel services market according to its data.  In addition to Romania, Paravion is present in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Italy and Spain and this year it should also launch services in Germany and Croatia, Javier Garcia del Valle, executive vice-president and CEO of Happy Tour Group told BR this April.

The Happy Tour group of companies is owned by private equity fund GED Capital. Last year it reported a consolidated turnover of around EUR 65-67 million.
