The average budget a Romanian has allocated for the May 1st holiday this year is RON 400 (approximately EUR 90) per person, according to a survey from online reservations platform HotelGuru.ro. Half of respondents said they will allocate less than RON 400 while while 32.3 percent said they will spend between RON 400 and RON 800. Over 65 of all respondents said they booked their holiday package or accommodation online.
However, over 30 percent of respondents said they don’t have any holiday plans for this prolonged weekend, lack of money being the main reason for this.
Most Romanians plan to spend their May 1st holiday together with family (42 percent) and friends (25 percent) and the most popular destinations are the Black Sea resorts, the Prahova Valley mountain resorts and the Danube Delta. Although the seaside is the traditional destination for the May 1st holiday among Romanians, half of respondents said they will opt for mountain destinations, according to the HotelGuru.ro survey.
Hikes and parties are the favored activities by Romanians during the May 1st holiday, followed by picnics, barbecues and fire camps.
The survey included 630 respondents.
