Romanian Post starts employee redundancy as part of restructuring process

By September 4, the Romanian Post had issued around 1,250 decisions for the termination of employees’ work contracts, with the legal notice of 20 working days, according to Hotnews.ro, which quotes Dan Dumitrescu, spokesman for the Romanian Post.

The Romanian Post officially announced on September 3 that it had completed the selection of the staff that will be made redundant, as part of its restructuring process.

Over 65 percent of the employees who will leave the company have opted for being included in the collective redundancy process.

A total of 3,650 employees will be made redundant based on the procedures and criteria established by the company management, and in accordance with the Union of Postal Workers in Romania.

Between August 28 and 31, the employees were tested in order to be able to select the personnel to be made redundant. Between August 18 and 23, 2,392 employees opted in writing for collective redundancy.

The company announced that starting September 3, the redundancy decisions would be issued.

For 2013, approximately RON 7.4 million will be paid from the unemployment insurances budget to the personnel that is made redundant.
