The permanent assemblies of the two Parliament chambers were summoned this afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Senate, in order to submit the documents for the suspension of president Traian Basescu.

“Right now, the parliamentarian groups have gathered all the complains that we deem important and we will place them in a document that we will forward to the presidents of the two chambers via which we will ask for an extraordinary session of the reunited chambers to suspend the Romanian president,” said Eugen Nicolaescu, member of the National Liberal Party, which is part of the Social- Liberal Coalition.

He said he hoped the request for the suspension from the position of head of state would be submitted at the Permanent Offices in about an hour.

After the documents are submitted, the constitutional calendar regarding the procedure for the suspension of the head of state will be established.

Yesterday, Vasile Blaga and Roberta Anastase were replaced from the position of presidents of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, being replaced by Crin Antonescu and Valeriu Zgonea.

The Ombudsman, Gheorghe Iancu, was replaced, also yesterday, with Social Democrat Valer Dorneanu as interim.

Political sources said for Hotnews.ro that the government adopted an emergency ordinance that restrains the decision power of the Constitutional Court, so it is no longer a must that the Court rules on the parliament’s measures. This has not been confirmed officially by the government.
