The Agricola Bacau group of companies reported a RON 133.732 million turnover (approximately EUR 30 million) in the first quarter of this year, up 15 percent y-o-y, the meat producer has announced. The increase is higher than the one reported for Q1 2013 which stood at 5 percent.
Agricola International, the group’s main company and the entity responsible for poultry production and logistics, has increased sales by 12 percent, reaching a total of RON 76.96 (approximately EUR 17 million).
In the first quarter of 2014, the meat producer’s poultry sales were up 12 percent in volume and 7 percent in value as the average price has dropped.
Agricola Bacau’s other companies have also increased their business, according to the group’s data. Salbac, which produces processed meat products, reported the highest increase in the group – 18 percent in value and 15 percent in volume. The company is market leader on the “salam de Sibiu” segment. Europrod, which produces ready-meal products, increased sales by 18 percent in value and 15 percent in volume. The company doubled its exports in Q1. It exports mainly to France, UK, Spain and Denmark.
Agricola Bacau is one of the main poultry producers in Romania and the largest exporter, according to its data. In 2013 it had a 16 percent market share of the poultry market and 19 percent of the ready-meal market, according to Nielsen data.
